Scholarship Guidelines
Mission Statement: The objective of the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote the commercial welfare of the Lowell area, making the area a desirable location for capital investment and residence, also to promote the quality of life and harmony among the business and residential communities.
Funding process: Amount of Scholarship awarded is dependent on the success of the Chamber’s Annual Golf Outing and designated gifts and will be split into two yearly payments. Year two payment will be based upon successful completion of first year’s requirements as set forth by the educational institute.
- Minimum amount of scholarship awarded will be $1,000.00 per recipient. A payment of 40% will be awarded in year one with 60% being awarded in year two.
- Payment will be issued directly to the institution upon enrollment, or reimbursed to the student upon presentation of a receipt to serve as proof of enrollment.
- The Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship fund will be administered through the Greater Lowell Chamber Foundation 501 3 (c) in order to accept tax-exempt contributions.
- The balance of the fund shall never fall below $2,000.00 and shall never exceed $6,000.
Selection process: Scholarship committee will consist of the following members:
- 1 representative from the Chamber of Commerce Industrial committee.
- 1 representative from the Chamber of Commerce Retail committee.
- 1 representative from the Chamber of Commerce Professional committee.
- 1 representative from the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship committee.
- 1 representative from the Chamber Foundation 501 3 (c) board.
- Scholarship applications are to be received at the Chamber of Commerce Office (113 Riverwalk Plaza, Lowell) by 5:00 p.m. the last business day of March.
- Recipient will be announced at LHS Senior Awards Night if recipient is LHS student, otherwise student will be notified by phone.
- Once approved by the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, changes to the above criteria can be made only by Chamber Board acceptance of a recommendation from the Scholarship Committee.
