Riverwalk Festival

July 11 & 12, 2008

 

This two-day event includes many activities where you and your family will enjoy Friday and Saturday night concerts, arts and crafts, parade, pet parade, Brian Mead Memorial Riverwalk Cruise-in, Rumble the Riverwalk, children’s area, historic riding tours and river tours, pontoon rides, kayak and canoe race, kayak fun, food booths, downtown merchants sidewalk sales and open house, health & fitness fair, street musicians, $1500 duck race, fireworks and much more.

RIVERWALK FESTIVAL July 11 & 12

Friday evening, July 11, 6 PM - 9 PM.  Saturday, July 12, 9 AM - 10:15 PM (when the fireworks begin).  Join in on the 14th Annual Riverwalk Festival where you and your family can enjoy the Brian Mead Memorial Cruise-in, Arts & Crafts, Antique Fair, FROM the Heart Parade, Pet    Parade, Children's Area, Historic River Tour, Pontoon Rides, Kayak Fun, Used Book Sale, Food Booths, Downtown Merchants Friday Late Night Shopping, Health & Fitness Fair Activities, Friday & Saturday Evening Concerts, $1500 Duck Race and the Saturday Night Laurels of Kent fireworks.  

July 12.  The Riverwalk Festival FROM the Heart Parade 11:00 AM along Historic Main Street.  Entries will be judged, and prizes for first, second, third and honorable mention trophies will be awarded.   Children are invited to enter their bikes in the parade.  The Riverwalk Festival theme colors are typically orange and yellow (for the duckies, of course). In keeping with the past few years, the parade entry fee will help support the Flat River Outreach Ministries with a donation of five non-perishable food items.  We also encourage parade viewers to give food to the FROM Clowns. 


July 12. Health and Fitness Fair. Lowell Police Department Garage and along Avery Street.  This event takes place in conjunction with the Annual Riverwalk Festival in Lowell. 

This family friendly event has grown into a fun and educational event featuring displays from a wide variety of health related organization with a diverse array of topics featured.  This is a great opportunity for community residents and visitors to the festival to receive FREE educational materials, health screenings and samples from many businesses and organizations.  This years event will feature a children’s challenge, encourage them to visit locations throughout the expo to participate in many activities; fitness fair obstacle course, create a sun sensitive bracelet, test your hand to eye coordination at the Cup Stacking Challenge and many more activities.  There will also be exhibits for visitors young at heart, which will include running gait analysis, the importance of proper shoe fit, food sampling and nutritional information, recreational opportunities available throughout the Lowell area and also information about many non-profit organizations. Come as a family and enjoy a fun (and healthful) day!

Youth.  July 12.  The Childrens’ Wellness Challenge.  
This will be the third year for this popular event.  It will be held in conjunction to the Health and Fitness fair.  This event will include a variety of health and wellness activities designed for children and their parents to experience.  Children can register for door prizes by completing a registration cards.  This will run from 10 AM— 4 PM and it will in and around the Health and Fitness Fair on Avery Street. July 11-12.  Used Book Sale.  
Check out the red-striped tent! Used books of all classification, plus tapes, cd’s and puzzles will be available for sale. All proceeds will benefit the Englehardt Library.   Friday from 6 PM -9 PM and Saturday from 10 AM - 4 PM. Englehardt-Lowell Branch Library, 647-3920

July 12. Brian Mead Memorial Cruise-in. Cars join us for the 7th Annual Brian Mead Memorial Cruise-in at the Lowell Fairgrounds.  Major Cash Prizes will be awarded, along with other donated items.    The Cruise-in is an extension of the Riverwalk Festival presented by the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce.  Park you car and take the shuttle or walk to Downtown Historic Lowell.

July 12. 6th Annual Rumble the Riverwalk. Show off your wheels, staging at the fairgrounds at 12:30 PM and driving through Lowell at 1:00  PM Sharp!  All vehicles participating in the  Rumble the Riverwalk will be eligible to win a $250 Cash Prize donated by Diamond Plate Works.

July 12. Motorcycles. Join us this year for our 3rd Annual Poker Run and the 5th Annual Rumble the Riverwalk.  The Poker Run will leave the Lowell Fairgrounds at 9:00 AM. Registration for Poker Run - 8:30 AM. Fee - $10.00 per Bike Poker Run - 60 miles (route determined by  Committee) Award - 50/50 split between the best hand and FROM. (Flat River Outreach Ministries)


July 12. Antique Fire Truck Muster.
See a glimpse of our history with this fun event.  Watch the Antique Fire Truck enthusiasts at work as they pump water from the Grand River and shoot it back,  a bucket brigade demo and fire gear. Registration:  8:30 AM.  Fire Truck  Muster & Fun - 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
